Hannukkah (Judaism)
Hannukkah, the Festival of Lights (and the Feast of Dedication), commemorates the victory of Judah the Maccabee and religious freedom, and the rededication of the Temple in 165 BCE. It also celebrates the power of God and the faithfulness of Israel. Suspension of work is not required. Jews commemorate this event by saying blessings, singing special songs and lighting one candle of the eight branched menorah on each night of the festival until all eight candles are lit.
